Let’s talk Mental Health, because pretending to be fine is not the same as being fine.
Sometimes it’s not your phone battery that’s drained, it’s you. Between school, work, “what next?” thoughts, and trying to figure out life in general, your mind deserves a break just as much as your body does.
Mental health isn’t about being dramatic or “doing too much.” It’s about checking in with yourself, asking, “how do I really feel?” and actually listening to the answer.
Start With Small Things
Journal: write it out, even if it’s chaotic.
Talk: a trusted friend, a counselor, or even a therapist. (It’s not weakness, it’s maintenance.)
Unplug: log off, take walks, touch grass, let your brain breathe.
Rest: you don’t need to earn rest. You just need it.
For the Diaspora Dreamers
If you’ve japa’d or you’re planning to, finding peace abroad can feel weird, new culture, new routine, less community. That’s why Ojawaju is curating spaces where Africans abroad can find support groups, mental-wellness circles, and safe conversations about adjusting to life overseas.
Because healing looks different for everyone, for some it’s therapy, for others it’s soft music, long showers, or prayer. Whatever your version looks like, prioritize it.
Peace of mind is the new luxury. Don’t wait for burnout to remind you that you deserve it 💚
